Remove exhaust sensors with ease, with this 5-piece specialist socket set
Monday 10 March 2025
Laser Tools has recently introduced a 5-piece Exhaust Gas Sensor Socket Set (part number 8997), a professional-grade solution designed for the efficient removal and installation of oxygen, NOx, and temperature sensors in exhaust and exhaust manifold systems. With a short-series design and side slots to accommodate sensor wiring harnesses, this set is indispensable for working in confined spaces or applying increased torque to tackle stubborn or seized sensors.
The set includes five sockets for common sensor sizes: 14mm (EGT sensor, VW Group), 17mm (EGT sensor, VW), 19mm (EGT sensor, VW), 22mm (Lambda sensor), and 24mm (Lambda/NOx sensor). The sockets can be driven using a 1/2" drive ratchet or a 24/30mm spanner for difficult-to-access locations, or use both on particularly tight sensors to apply increased torque without socket spreading, which can be a problem with similar slotted sockets. For refitting, the 1/2" drive enables the easy use of a torque wrench.
The short-series design (67–70mm depth), ensures access for confined spaces, and they are manufactured from strong chrome-molybdenum steel with a black phosphate finish for a long workshop life with enhanced corrosion resistance. Supplied in an EVA foam tray (37 x 188 x 298mm), perfect for roll-cab drawers, ensuring the set remains tidy and protected.
If you just need one socket, they be purchased separately under Laser part numbers 9000 (14mm), 8999 (17mm), 8998 (19mm), 8063 (22mm), and 8590 (24mm).
The 8997 Exhaust Gas Sensor Socket Set is the ideal choice for professional technicians working on modern exhaust systems, ensuring efficiency, reliability, and ease-of-use in every job. Available now for purchase from your Laser Tools stockist and online retailers.
