British Touring Cars Championship
In early 2014, Laser Tools Racing was established with the aim of participating in the British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) with driver Aiden Moffat. Taking a significant step forward in early 2020, Laser Tools Racing made an exciting announcement about the construction of two brand new Infiniti touring cars for Aiden Moffat and his teammate Ashley Sutton. These remarkable vehicles played a pivotal role in securing the BTCC Drivers' Championship for Ash Sutton in both 2020 and 2021. Additionally, Laser Tools Racing achieved success as a team, clinching the Independent Teams' Championship in both 2020 and 2021, as well as the overall BTCC Teams' Championship in 2021.
Looking ahead to the 2024 season, Laser Tools Racing is still partnered with MB Motorsport and BTCC title contender and standout driver, Jake Hill. With a determined focus on capturing the championship title, Laser Tools Racing has embarked on a full-scale assault for the 2024 campaign. Jake Hill will be behind the wheel of the WSR-run BMW 330e M Sport, a combination that proved immensely successful during its debut season two years ago.
Over the years (especially with the Tool Connection’s continuing commitment to nurture young talent), the Laser Tools Racing stable includes more than just the main BTCC team, and is an important part of the company’s activities.

Laser Tools Pre '93 Touring Cars
Since 2020, Laser Tools has proudly served as the title sponsor for the Classic Touring Car Racing Club's highly regarded Pre 1993 Touring Cars series. This partnership has proven to be a perfect match for the Laser Tools brand, resulting in a remarkable resurgence of interest and participation in the championship. Despite the ever-changing climate and circumstances, the championship has defied the odds and maintained its popularity and entertainment value.
Even in 2023, the championship continues to captivate audiences with its thrilling display of diverse machinery from the late 1980s and early 1990s. Amongst this exhilarating spectacle, the Laser Tools Racing BMW, driven by Andy Sheraton, stands as an integral part of the championship, adding to the excitement and competitive spirit of the event.
Nelson King
July 2023: Laser Tools Racing is thrilled to announce their collaboration with Nelson King, the talented and ambitious young racing driver, for the remaining events in this year's JCW category of the Vertu Motors MINI CHALLENGE. As a team dedicated to supporting emerging motorsport talent, Laser Tools Racing recognises Nelson's exceptional skills and potential, and they are excited to provide him with the necessary resources and expertise to further his racing career.
At just 20 years old, Nelson King has already established himself as a rising star in the world of motorsport. With a successful background in karting, Nelson has made a seamless transition to car racing and has quickly garnered attention for his impressive performances on the track. His commitment, determination, and unwavering focus have set him on a path to success in the competitive realm of British motorsport.
Chloe Grant
Chloe Grant joined Laser Tools Racing to contest the 2022 GB4 Championship, and she finished ninth in that contest. For 2023, Chloe competes in the F1 Academy, a new all-female championship. It features seven events all staged on famous Grand Prix tracks, 21 races in total, and includes a season finale alongside F1’s United States Grand Prix in Texas in October. The series is aimed at developing and preparing young drivers to progress to higher levels of competition.
Chloe’s racing career started in 2013, competing in the East of Scotland Kart Club where she secured the award for best up and coming driver for the 2014 season. Remaining here for the next two years, she finished 3rd then 2nd before moving on to Minimax, securing the ESKC Junior championship.
In 2020, Chloe became the youngest driver (13 years old) to secure a Motorsport UK Junior Racing Driver License in Scotland. In subsequent years she went on to win the CKRC Championship and the BWRDC Kart Sport Championship. 2022 saw her take part in the GB4 Championship’s inaugural season with Laser Tools Racing, securing 10 top 10 finishes from 12 races in the second half of the year.
Laser Tools Rally Team
Driver Peter Outram and co-driver Jemma Outram, with the service crew made up of friends and family members with Anthony Windle, Tim Windle and Mick Munday on the spanners, Dawn and Jodie Outram keeping us fed and watered and cheered along by our biggest fan my grandson Theo Smith. Work on the car is done at home which does take some considerable time keeping the car competitive and reliable and also looking its best every time we turn out.
The car is a class 4 1980 Ford Escort MK2 fitted with a 2.1Duratec engine with Borg Warner T5 gearbox and Atlas disc braked rear axle with a motorsport limited slip diff. The inside of the car bears little resemblance to how it came from the factory with a fully welded roll cage competition bucket seats, 6 point full harness seat belts and plumbed in fire suppression system all inline with the current Motorsport UK regulations.
We are proud to have been supported by Laser Tools for seven years now with some great results where we consistently finish in the top 5 in our class collecting numerous class win trophies, as well as top 10 finishes.
John Loudon
John Loudon is a speed-event racing driver from Southam, Warwickshire.
In the period since he has been competing, he has set numerous class records at sprint venues around the UK mainland and Northern Ireland in a Force single seater in the up to 1100cc Racing Car Class and previously in a Westfield kit car in both the Specialist Production Car class and Modified Specialist Production Car classes. John’s current car is a Force TA single seater racing car powered by a Suzuki GSX-R 1000cc motorcycle engine modified to 1070cc running on methanol.
John has won many championships and trophies including the Westfield Speed Series Championship, Motorsport UK Sprint Leaders championship and previously having finished 12th, 8th and currently racing in the Motorsport UK British Sprint Championship against much more powerful machinery.
