Laser Tools Racing and Aiden Moffat announce their BTCC 2014 season plans

Friday 07 February 2014
Friday February 7th: Warwickshire-based tool distributor and manufacturer Laser Tools have announced a partnership with BTCC driver Aiden Moffat to contest the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship for the 2014 season and have formed the new team: Laser Tools Racing.

‘We have been watching Aiden Moffat carefully over the past twelve months,’ said MD of Laser Tools, Martin Smith. ‘We have had success with WTCC sponsorship over the past few years but have felt that the BTCC series could offer us exciting opportunities. When Aiden announced his plans for 2014 with the NGTC Chevrolet Cruze, it was a perfect fit, and our partnership with the talented, young Scottish driver was formed.’

Aiden commented: ‘I’m very excited to become involved with Laser Tools Racing and after scoring championship points at two BTCC events last year I am now firmly focused for the season ahead. Bring it on!’

Team Manager Bob Moffat is also excited: ‘It is clear that we have a very competitive car and with the backing of Laser Tools Racing, a very competitive team — we are confident that Aiden is going to be the driver to watch for the 2014 season.’

Aiden Moffat became the youngest driver in British Touring Car Championship history in 2013 when he contested his home round at Knockhill in a S2000 Chevrolet Cruze. He then went on to make his NGTC debut driving a VW Passat with Team HARD, scoring championship points at both Silverstone and Brands Hatch.

2013 was a busy year for the 17-year-old and he proudly closed out the Scottish Fiesta championship in fine style by claiming victory in nine of the last ten races on his way to finishing second in the standings.
